He specialises in children, HIV and research. Martin is a committee member of the National Council for Osteopathic research. His holistic approach to the principals of osteopathy empowers his patients to find internal balance and to self-regulate their bodies. Osteopaths recognise that dysfunction in body structure and tissues can affect the functioning of the body’s systems such as the nervous, circulatory, gastrointestinal and other body systems. This can give rise to a number of symptoms and problems such as back pain, headaches and breathing problems. With their hands, osteopaths identify dysfunction within the patient's body that they then facilitate the patient's ability to heal itself using osteopathic techniques. Exercises and lifestyle advice may be given to improve the health and quality of life for the patient.
