Lactation Consultant and Tongue-Tie Practitioner
A good experience of infant feeding has immediate and long term health and social benefits for both mother and baby. Breast-feeding should be pain free and a pleasure to do.
Ann Dobson is an experienced practitioner with over 30 years of experience working with Families. She currently supports Mothers and babies with breastfeeding issues, including challenging breastfeeding, tongue tie assessment and treatment, mastitis, engorgement and painful nipples; with Massage and Oscillation treatment. Ann is also a qualified Craniosacral therapist.
Training and Experience
Ann trained with Mervyn Griffiths and Carolyn Westcott at Southampton General Hospital and has been assessing and treating tongue-ties for over 14 years. She is a member of the Association of Tongue-Tie practitioners.
Ann is a Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and has a post graduate Psychoanalytic Child Development diploma (Tavistock Clinic) as well as some counselling training. Ann also trained as a nurse in University College London.
Ann has worked in the field of infant feeding for over 20 years. She is also a mother of four herself, including twins.
Lactation Support & Osteopathy
Lactation support and Osteopathy complement each other well in this area.
For the mother this involves examination of the breast, treatment of breast blockages, breast pain, nipple trauma and discomfort, with advice on position and attachment.
For the baby this includes full feeding and oral assessment and Osteopathic examination and treatment by Simon.
